My name is John O'Donohue

I am currently seeking full time, permanent employment, in which I can demonstrate my love of all things audiovisual.
Besides a position with a video production company, I would of course welcome opportunities within a company's Social Media / Marketing / Learning & Development department, where there is requirement for content creation.

I have been providing affordable and high-quality video production solutions for small and medium-sized businesses for over 24 years. I have helped clients to showcase and promote their products and services through engaging and effective online video content, tailored to their needs and budgets.

I have a wide range of skills and expertise in video production - camera operation, video editing and mastering, as well as audio production, voiceover recording, graphic design, photography and social media content creation.

I am proficient in using tools such as Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro & Adobe Photoshop and I have my own Sony A7s and Panasonic GH5 cameras.
I am also experienced in planning, scripting, and delivering corporate video projects and possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

I was solely responsible for the production of all featured content on this website. (Camera, sound, lighting, graphics, editing, voiceovers).
However, I would cherish the opportunity to work as part of a team, so that I might be involved in the broader aspects of production such as scripting, planning & marketing.

I am seeking a full-time career in a team environment, where I can apply and enhance my broad skill set, challenge myself and contribute to the success of an organization.
I am passionate about being creative, delivering high-quality work, and exceeding expectations. I am confident that I can bring value, versatility, and professionalism to any multimedia role.

After our son was born in 2020, I decided to take some time off as a "Stay at Home Parent".
I am very grateful for the precious time that I have enjoyed during those early formative years and while I did some freelance work on an ad hoc basis during that time, it is now time for me to ditch the rubber gloves and get back out there!

Filmed using DSLR cameras (mostly Panasonic GH5 or Sony A7s) and a stabilizing gimbal.
A few of the older videos were shot using the Canon 5D. (Can you guess which ones?)
All of the videos were shot using the naturally available light, with no additional lighting set up for filming.

The use of a handheld gimbal instead of a tripod and the absence of floor mounted lighting ensured a faster turnaround when filming and a safer environment when shooting run-and-gun style in different locations, especially in a busy public space like the fitness club. Fast, efficient, fuss-free filming!

VIDEO PRODUCTION

We currently shoot with Panasonic GH5 and Sony A7s cameras and use a gimbal stabilizer, which enables the aquisition of smooth, shake-free footage and often negates the necessity for a cumbersome tripod.
Our small cameras are less intimidating than larger camera setups. This configuration draws less attention during filming and allows for quick and easy access with virtually no setup time, minimizing disruption and distraction.

All of the videos in the Video Examples section were shot using the available ambient light and no additional lighting was used. This was mainly due to time constraints and the quick turnaround time required for clients.

With a background in music & sound production, I have also provided voice-over services and bespoke music production for videos, some of which are featured in the Video Examples section of this website.

Video Production

I currently shoot using the Sony A7s mirrorless camera and the Beholder DS1 handheld gimbal for fluidity & stabilisation.
This small and inconspicuous camera is less intimidating than larger camera setups and draws less attention during filming.
This allows for quick and easy access with virtually no setup time, minimizing disruption and distraction.

My video editing software of choice is Final Cut Pro X.
I also offer voice-over services and music production.
